What’s the obsession with people who are so pro-meat eating.

I keep having loads of debates with people about being a vegetarian. Why does this have to be made in to an issue? I choose not to eat the flesh of a dead and rotting animals.

So people keep saying it’s silly to be veggie to the point that I would like to write down my thoughts on the matter. My reply is well I'm not the kind of vegetarian who is going to try and convert you, if you want to eat meat it's your choice. I just hope you realise what the animal has to endure before it’s on your plate and that you can acknowledge that. But mostly you know what you are eating. Soylent Green? Mrs. Lovett’s? No I’m joking. What I’m trying to say is that lamb means it is a lamb, a baby sheep. And I hope that you know that beef is from a cow and pork is from a pig. Not to be patronizing but I only bring this up because a while ago I read how some kids nowadays don’t know where chips come from… yes I said chips, not potatoes which come from a field. But that they didn’t know that chips don’t come from anything but are made from sliced potatoes which is then fried. So if they don’t know where chips come from I’m surprised if they can distinguish where meat comes from.

And this is usually where someone gives me an earful about how good meat is. Well ok if you like the taste and that’s your argument fair enough. But they do say that pig flesh is said to be like human flesh…Would you be comfortable eating a human? I didn’t think so. But why is there such a stigma around eating human flesh? At the end of the day it’s just flesh right? To me there is no difference between human and animal. We are animals. And no I don’t want to eat any kind of dead flesh and that includes humans. Although I would like the question answering as to why humans think animals are lesser creatures? And don’t say it’s because they can not communicate with us. We can’t communicate with them and as stupid as it sounds many animals don’t want to eat us.

A particular young man argued “well god created deer to eat grass and a lion to show us how to eat that deer.” So I replied but “What makes you think that the dear wasn’t showing you how to eat grass?” Do you relate to the dear or the lion? I have got a little side-tracked here but his particularly annoyed me, most of all because I don’t believe in a god per-say but that’s another debate.

Finally my main argument is: could you kill an animal yourself? No then how can accept something you are too much of a coward to kill yourself?
So get over your meat-eating self and don’t be so closed minded, if I want to eat my food meat-free then leave me too it. I’m not a vegetarian just so you can have something to moan about and tell me that I’m in the wrong. No one is in the wrong. Eat meat if you choose to. Just acknowledge it’s not the only way to live and don’t be so ignorant and close minded.

And If you are a vegan reading this I realise the hypocritical nature of a vegetarian arguing against the way animals are treated. Yes it is cruel and yes those animals used in the production of dairy products is especially cruel. Personally I don't really have that many dairy products and I acknowledge that the diary animals do go through a lot of shit.

To me it is your choice as to what you eat and what you don’t. But you’d think with everything being so advanced and having food being so plentiful that people would perhaps stop by and consider being a vegetarian or a vegan or at least not give me or any other veggie/vegan hassle for it. It’s a life choice. So please don’t be so ignorant.
Grrr. It just annoys me that people make a big deal out of it when there is no need.

Personal choice!
